# Displacement

Displacement, abbreviated as d or DISP, is the change in position.  Displacement is a vector quantity having magnitude and direction, some of these include acceleration, drag, force, lift, momentum, thrust, torque, velocity, and weight.

### Displacement formula

(Eq. 1)  $$\large{ d = v \; t }$$

(Eq. 2)  $$\large{ d = x_f - x_i }$$

(Eq. 3)  $$\large{ d = v_i \; t + \frac {1}{2} \; a \; t^2 }$$

(Eq. 4)  $$\large{ d = \frac {P \; t}{F} }$$

Where:

$$\large{ d }$$ = displacement

$$\large{ a }$$ = acceleration

$$\large{ F }$$ = force

$$\large{ x_f }$$ = final position

$$\large{ x_i }$$ = initial position

$$\large{ P }$$ = power

$$\large{ t }$$ = time

$$\large{ v }$$ = velocity

$$\large{ v_i }$$ =  initial velocity

Solve for:

$$\large{ F = \frac {P \; t}{d} }$$

$$\large{ P = \frac {F \; d}{t} }$$
